Harrison Ford had no idea a casual conversation about airplane habits would leave him completely baffled by Gen Z slang he clearly wishes nobody had ever explained to him.
The Hollywood legend found himself at the center of a hilarious generational clash after Sherry Cola casually used the phrase “raw-dogging a flight” during an interview, forcing Ford into an awkward realization that quickly spiraled into one of the funniest moments the ‘Shrinking‘ cast has shared off-screen.
Harrison Ford Realizes How He Completely Misunderstood The Slang

The awkward conversation happened during an appearance on Sirius XM’s The Morning Mashup, where Sherry Cola discussed how she disconnects while traveling. While explaining that she sometimes enjoys complete silence on flights without entertainment or distractions, Cola casually used a phrase that instantly caught Ford’s attention.

“I will raw-dog a flight,” Sherry Cola admitted during the interview. “I will just — here’s the thing. We’re doing the most all the time, right? So, sometimes silence and solitude is necessary, and just like sitting on a plane watching nothing, doing nothing, just staring blankly at … it’s called raw-dogging a flight.”
Ford immediately looked confused and jumped into the conversation before Cola could continue. “That’s not what ‘raw-dog’ means,” he coyly said.
That single comment completely changed the direction of the interview. Host Nicole Ryan jokingly asked Ford, “Do you want to explain to us what it actually means?” But Ford soon admitted that he had only recently learned the actual meaning of the slang term — and he clearly regretted finding out.
“They told me a little late,” Ford said. “I really didn’t, well, why would I run across something that …” Ryan then finished the sentence for him by adding, “Vile. It’s filthy.”
The ‘Shrinking’ Cast Turned Ford’s Confusion Into Comedy

Once Ford admitted how uncomfortable the explanation made him, his ‘Shrinking‘ co-stars wasted no time teasing him even more. Christa Miller jokingly pointed out that Ford probably did not need to concern himself with modern dating slang anyway.

“You’re married,” ‘Shrinking‘ co-star Christa Miller pointed out. “You don’t have to worry about that.”
Ford then leaned fully into the joke and explained why the entire conversation left him so overwhelmed. “I’m over this part of anybody’s life,” Ford explained. “I have five children. People – I never – what does this mean? Why do you let me do this? And then you make fun of me. It’s because I’m old.”
The funny misunderstanding also reminded fans of a memorable moment from the first season of Shrinking, where Ford’s character completely misused the exact same phrase. In the episode, Dr. Paul Rhoades confidently claimed that “raw-dogging” meant “to talk to somebody that doesn’t want to talk to you.”
That callback made the Sirius XM interview even funnier because Ford seemed just as genuinely confused in real life as his character had been in the series. Thanks to one painfully explained Gen Z phrase, Ford has also unintentionally delivered one of the internet’s funniest celebrity reactions to modern slang.
