‘The Boys’ gave a strangely emotional episode for longtime fans of ‘Supernatural’, besides all the chaos, violence, and absurdity. After over five years, Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins were once again together on screen.
However, this time, they weren’t hunting monsters. They were wreaking havoc in Eric Kripke’s warped world of superheroes.
‘The Boys’ Reunion Scene Included A Secret Nod To ‘Supernatural‘

The episode follows Soldier Boy as he travels to Los Angeles with Homelander, where he ends up at Mister Marathon’s mansion. With Mister Marathon, Padalecki portrays a disgraced speedster working in the dark with black market deals.

Whereas Collins stars as Malchemical, a dangerous supe who can release deadly poisonous gas from his breath. During the extended footage shared by Prime Video, a reference to “Busty Asian Beauties” pops up, which hardcore fans will remember as Dean Winchester’s favorite magazine from ‘Supernatural’.
The tiny Easter egg immediately sent fans into nostalgia mode online, with many joking that Dean Winchester somehow survived long enough to end up inside ‘The Boys’ universe.
It’s exactly the kind of chaotic, self-aware callback Eric Kripke fans love spotting. The moment is made even more poignant because the three of them were able to return to their old groove so effortlessly.
Even surrounded by exploding heads, corrupt superheroes, and the dark satire that defines ‘The Boys’, there was still that unmistakable chemistry fans spent 15 years watching on ‘Supernatural’. The energy was never lost.
Jensen Ackles Says The Reunion Felt Surprisingly Emotional

Ackles said he was a bit nervous to have Padalecki and Collins back on set. The friendship between the two has been longstanding, and it’s obvious that it’s more than just a typical co-star relationship.

Ackles compared watching them perform to watching his own kid succeed, praising both actors while laughing about how “disgusting” and “outrageous” their scenes became.
There was this weird adjustment period, too. It was surreal at first, as they were shooting together in different costumes, on a different set, and with an all-new cast, Ackles said. However, he noted that the actors were already playing versions of themselves in the later seasons of ‘Supernatural’, so it wasn’t too difficult.
The most hilarious part was off-camera. Ackles said that several takes were lost just because the three of them couldn’t stop laughing. That’s all that fans really needed to know.
Despite its gore and its impact, ‘The Boys’ somehow managed to make one of the most wholesome reunions on TV this year. It felt like a perfect fit to see the old Winchester family again, even as morally dubious superheroes.
