‘The Big Bang Theory‘ is one of the most favorite sitcoms out there. Even though the show revolves around the life of scientists it also has its fair share of drama and controversy. The show focuses on the lives and adventures of four nerdy friends and their love interests, who have wildly different personalities and their own little quirks. It’s no secret that one of the most loved couples on the show was Leonard and Penny, the classic opposites attract love story.

‘The Big Bang Theory’: The Cheating Incident Involving Leonard And Penny
The episode which reveals Leonard’s deceit is Season 10 Episode 1, titled ‘The Conjugal Conjecture’. Season 10 picks up immediately after Season 9’s finale, where Leonard and Penny get married for the second time in front of their friends and family in a beautiful ceremony. Things fall apart soon after when Leonard confesses to Penny that while he was on the expedition on the North Sea he had kissed another woman. He says he made a mistake and that he regrets it, but Penny was understandably hurt and angry.
The other woman in question is Mandy Chow, a scientist who was part of his team on the expedition. Mandy is played by Melissa Tang, who has also featured in shows like ‘Mom‘, ‘The Goodwin Games‘, and ‘Young Sheldon‘. She is oblivious to Leonard’s marital status and assumes that he is single. She flirts with him when they meet again at the university.

The Aftermath
Penny forgives Leonard and decides to move on with their relationship. Penny still had some trust issues with Leonard and asks him to delete Mandy’s number from his phone and not to contact her. She even makes him wear an embarrassing sweater that she knitted for him as punishment. Leonard feels guilty and tries to make it up to Penny. Apart from profusely apologizing and reassuring her of his love for her, he even gets a tattoo of her name on his chest which to the relief of everyone turns out to be fake.
At the end of the episode, the couple reaffirm their love for each other and share a passionate kiss. They have a heartfelt conversation with their parents and realize that they have overcome many obstacles and challenges in their relationship and that they are stronger together. The cheating incident was one of the most controversial plot twists in ‘The Big Bang Theory‘. Many fans were outraged and disappointed by his actions, while others defended him and argued that it was a minor slip-up.
