Who Are The Blue Wizards In ‘The Rings Of Power’?
The Blue Wizards, also known as Ithryn Luin were two mysterious creatures of Middle-earth. Alatar and Pallando were named because of their sea-blue robes.
These wizards were sent to contest the will of Sauron in the farthest regions. In the third age book by Tolkien, it is mentioned that Alatar was a Maia of the Vala Oromë.
He was chosen by Vala to go to Middle-earth. His friend Pallando, later join him on his journey. The time that the wizards arrived in Middle-earth is unknown. In Unfinished Tales, the five Istari arrived at Middle-earth together in TA 1000.
But in another book, the wizards are mentioned to be in the second age. They went to the eastern and southern parts of Middle-earth, while the rest of Istari went to the west. It is not mentioned, but chances pointed out that they failed the mission.

Later Conception Of The Two Wizards
Towards the final phase of his life, Tolkien revisited the issue and mentioned a brief outline of the two Wizards who tried to disrupt Sauron’s will.
He changed several aspects of the wizards like they did not arrive in Middle-earth along with Saruman, Gandalf, and Radagast in the third age but much earlier.
They arrived at middle earth at the same time as Glorfindel in S.A. 1600 when Sauron forged the One Ring.
Unlike the original version, the two Wizards were able to stop Sauron’s operations in the East and South, aiding his defeat in the War of the Elves and Sauron and War of the Last Alliance.
