10. Talamasca: The Secret Order
AMC has pulled the plug on ‘Talamasca: The Secret Order’ after just one season. The series was the latest entry in Anne Rice’s ‘Immortal Universe’ franchise. But despite its potential and connection to a larger universe, AMC decided not to move forward with another season.
Though the network has assured fans that both the Talamasca organisation and some of its characters may return in future projects. Hopefully, the door is still open for many unanswered questions and untapped storylines to be picked up.

9. The Runarounds
Inspired by the real-life band of the same name, ‘The Runarounds’ brought music, friendship, and youthful ambitions all in one heartwarming coming-of-age drama. It wasn’t a surprise that the series quickly developed a passionate fandom.
However, Amazon Prime Video has cancelled the show after only one season. While fans are disappointed by the decision, the band has responded that they plan on staying together and continuing their music career. But we still wonder where their story could’ve gone if the show hadn’t been cancelled.
8. Watson
CBS’s medical mystery drama ‘Watson’ officially came to an end after two seasons. Starring Morris Chestnut as a modern-day Dr John Watson, the series was a beloved addition to the literary world of Arthur Conan Doyle.
Although the writers tried to bring Watson’s journey to a satisfying end in season 2, the ending felt rushed and incomplete. For many viewers, there was still plenty of mystery to be explored.
7. The Boroughs
Produced by the Duffer Brothers, ‘The Boroughs’ immediately struck a chord with fans because of its promising premise and beloved cast. But despite positive reviews, Netflix cancelled the series only a month after its premiere.
Budget concerns and viewership expectations ultimately sealed the deal. Though it was clear that numerous storylines had to be left unresolved due to this sudden ending.
6. The Copenhagen Test
Peacock’s ‘The Copenhagen Test’ seemed to have all the ingredients for a breakout hit. Led by star and executive producer Simu Liu, the series had the potential for a long-running future.

5. The Hunting Party
After two seasons of a successful run, ‘The Hunting Party’ has also come to a close. NBC confirmed that the show would not be returning for a third season.
In the crowd of procedural dramas and crime mysteries, ‘The Hunting Party’ successfully stood out because of its promising premise. What makes the cancellation particularly disappointing is that the series was just a victim of the network’s scheduling challenges.
4. The Abandons
Netflix’s decision to cancel ‘The Abandons’ is again one of the most frustrating television losses of the year. Headed by Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson, the series had the groundwork for a much larger story.
This makes the abrupt ending much harder to accept. Creator Kurt Sutter reportedly criticised the cancellation decision publicly, suggesting that corporate calculation just keeps getting prioritised over creative decisions. With both fans and creators wanting to continue the story, ‘The Abandons’ deserved one more chance.
3. Brilliant Minds
It can’t be denied that ‘Brilliant Minds’ was one of the most distinctive medical dramas we got this year. The series was loosely inspired by the work of renowned neurologist Oliver Sacks. Despite earning a dedicated audience and critical praise, NBC cancelled the show during its second season.
Again, the reason behind the cancellation was scheduling concerns. The news came as a big disappointment to both fans and cast members because ‘Brilliant Minds’ still had the potential to go on.
2. Palm Royale
With 11 Emmy nominations under its wings, you would think ‘Palm Royale’ had a bright future. Unfortunately, Apple TV decided to cut it short after only two seasons. Because of its impressive ensemble cast and dedicated viewers, the cancellation news definitely comes as a big surprise.
The second season does try to offer some degree of closure. But it is difficult to ignore the many storylines that were left unfinished. ‘Palm Royale’ still had plenty of life left in it.
1. Gen V
Of all the cancellations announced in 2026, this one definitely hurts the most. The acclaimed spin-off of ‘The Boys’ was successful in creating a unique identity of its own. But the story was left right in the middle.
Though producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg have reassured fans that the characters and their stories will continue in the franchise world. Even so, ‘Gen V’ had plenty of potential to be a strong standalone, and the cancellation remains disappointing.
