The series got a reboot, but it could not match the hype that the original one had!
Taylor Momsen played Jenny Humphrey, the sister of Penn Badgley, in ‘Gossip Girl.’ The on-screen brother and sister reunited on Badgley’s podcast, ‘Podcrushed.’ Jenny’s character was highly vamped, as she was an outsider in the insider world, and to get access to the insides of New York’s elite, she plotted many evil plans, even at the cost of losing friendships and family. However, Taylor was only 12 years old when she joined the series, and just after four seasons, her character disappeared.

Taylor Momsen Had The Music Epiphany While Shooting ‘Gossip Girl’
During Penn Badgley’s ‘Podcrushed’ podcast, Taylor Momsen arrived in the studio to reminisce about the ‘Gossip Girl’ days. The reel siblings talked about how Taylor said yes to coming on board the series when she was a mere 12-year-old. She said, “Larger powers than me came down and went, ‘This is a great opportunity.’ ” While she was shooting for the series, she found peace in music.
Momsen continued, “That’s where music became such a solace for me. Thanking back on my life, it was this place where I could just be — writing songs, emoting how I felt. I was by myself a lot. I didn’t have my own clique.”
In 2009, she founded the rock band The Pretty Reckless with her friends. Talking about acting, she said, “It was a childhood thing that I got put into at two years old. I wasn’t making my own choices then.” The artist continued, “Literally, as soon as I got to an age where I could make my own decisions, it was like a click…”
She added, “I woke up one morning and went, ‘Wait a second. I don’t have to do this? I don’t have to do this other job? I can just play in my band and tour and write songs? I can just do that?’ Granted, a little more complicated to get out of a television show than that, but the answer was yes.”
The lovely people on ‘Gossip Girl’ helped her find her calling and follow it. Taylor said during the podcast, “They went, “Well, we can’t let you out of your deal, but we can write you out of the show, so you can go on tour.’ They really allowed me to follow my dream, and I’m forever grateful and thankful to them for that.”
