‘Superman: Legacy’ penned by James Gunn, co-CEO of the studio is currently expected to be released on July 11, 2025. DC Studios have just begun with pre-production. Now the hunt for the Kryptonian hero has begun. Unlike the Man of Steel, ‘Superman: Legacy’ will not be an origin story. The film will follow Superman at the beginning of his superhero career, meaning that it will most likely feature a young actor Clark Kent.
Amidst the whole Henry Cavil and James Gunn facade, DC is now looking for his replacement, which definitely won’t be easy. Cavill’s exit from the role was shocking as the actor announced his return in ‘Black Adam‘ post-credits scene. Now DC is in search of someone young to fill the role of Superman. Here are the five actors who are possible candidates for James Gunn’s upcoming ‘Superman: Legacy’.

5. Andrew Richardson
The British actor was one of the earlier choices for the role of Superman in the James Gunn reboot. Richardson’s recent work includes ‘Killer Among Us’, ‘Daughter of the Bride’, ‘A Call to Spy’, and ‘The Independent’. Although Richardson is relatively new to drama and comedy roles, he delivered promising roles, and it would be interesting to watch him in the role of Superman. But still, it is difficult to predict what goes on in James Gunn’s head and how Richardson might take forward the legacy of Superman.
4. Jacob Elordi
The Australian actor had his breakout role in ‘The Kissing Booth’ and reprised the role of Noah Flynn in ‘The Kissing Booth 2’ and ‘The Kissing Booth 3′. Currently Elordi stars as Nate Jacobs in ‘Euphoria‘. Also, he starred alongside Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas in ‘Deep Water‘. However Elordi did not submit an audition for the role of Superman in ‘Superman: Legacy’, but it appears that he will most likely be considered for the role of Superman. Also, he would be a perfect fit for a younger version of Clark Kent.
3. Nicholas Hoult
Nicholas Hoult is the most experienced actor running among the Superman candidates. He played Hank McCoy in X-Men’s ‘Beast‘ and later reprised the role in ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’, ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, ‘Deadpool 2’, and ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’. Already familiar with the superhero universe, it would be easy for Hoult to fit into the cape of Superman as Hank McCoy’s personality seemed similar to that of Clark Kent in ‘First Class‘. Nicholas Hoult screen tested for the role of Batman in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman‘, which eventually went to Robert Pattinson. After playing Beast and almost playing Batman, Nicholas Hoult would be a solid choice for Superman.

2. David Corenswet
David Corenswet, an American actor is reportedly among the top contenders for the role of Superman in the upcoming James Gunn film. The list of Corenswet’s roles is quite remarkable, especially for a relatively young actor. While casting unknown actors in major roles such as Superman or Joker worked well previously, ‘Superman: Legacy’ might benefit from an already-established name like Corenswet. The actor would exemplify a young Superman perfectly, allowing the new DC Universe to follow this contemporary version of Clark Kent as he becomes the Man of Steel. Corenswet’s experience in dramas and comedies can result in the perfect combination for a new Superman, even more so in a movie directed by James Gunn.
1. Pierson Fodé
Pieron Fodé is well known for his role as Thomas Forrester on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ from 2015 to 2018. He will also be seen in ‘Based on True Story‘, a new dark comedy series alongside Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina. In the midst of James Gunn’s ‘Superman: Legacy‘ casting search, Fodé has emerged as one of the frontrunners for the iconic DC hero. Fodé reportedly submitted a self-tape showcasing his Clark Kent-like childhood on a farm in the town of Moses Lake, Wash. The decision is yet to be made by James Gunn.
