The Hollywood power couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt separated in 2016 after Pitt was charged with excessive drinking and assault on a plane during a family trip from France to California. Cut to 2024, Angelina Jolie filed paperwork with her legal team accusing Brad Pitt of physical abuse for his misconduct even before 2016.
The documents show that her attorneys filed a claim stating Pitt’s history of abuse. He also acted the same way with their children and that’s the reason Angelina Jolie left him right away. “While Pitt’s history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well,” her lawyers stated, according to documents obtained by multiple outlets. “Jolie then immediately left him,” her lawyers added in the paperwork.
When Pitt discovered that Jolie took the matter to the authorities, he tried to make her sign a contract committing her to stop the case in 2021. Since then Pitt has kept his silence on the issue. In 2022, Jolie accused him of assaulting her and the kids on the flight. According to the documents, he allegedly grabbed her by the head and shook her after they got into a quarrel in the aircraft restroom. He then repeatedly struck the plane’s ceiling. Pitt reportedly physically abused the kids as well and spilled red wine and beer over the kids.
However, Pitt did not face any criminal charges for any of these claims. In fact, he actively denied all the accusations against him. However, he said he would accept the things he did but would never take accountability for things he did not. A representative for the Oscar winner said about Jolie’s moves, “The story continues to evolve each time she tells it with new, unsubstantiated claims, Brad has accepted responsibility for what he did but will not for things he didn’t do. These new allegations are completely untrue.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie wed in 2014 and separated in 2019. They were frequently photographed together and were the IT couple of Hollywood. The couple shares six children – three are biological including Shiloh (17), and twins Knox and Vivienne (15), and the other three are adopted – Maddox (22), Pax (20), and Zahara (19). They started dating rumors in 2005 while Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston.
Unfortunately, their marriage crumbled two years after Jolie filed the divorce. She said in the interviews that it was the “right decision” to get a divorce and it was important for the well-being of the family.
