Who would have thought that Beyonce’s music would be doubted by anyone? But she did not become the star she is today in one night — it took her years of struggle and persistence. At the beginning of her career, Beyonce faced a lot of criticism.
No one believed her debut album would be a hit. In fact, Columbia Records executives thought ‘Dangerously In Love‘ would fail big time. When she ventured solo outside the ‘Destiny’s Child’ group, the music label was also sure she would fail. But the Queen B outdid herself and emerged as a highly successful star.

Beyonce’s Music Label Columbia Records Did Not Believe In Beyonce’s Debut Album
Upon it’s release in 2003, Beyonce’s solo album ‘Dangerously In Love’ became a big commercial success. Not only did the album debut atop the US Billboard 200, it also sold 317,000 copies in its first week. However, at the time of recording the album, no one believed it would be a hit.
Music executives at Columbia Records did not think that Beyonce would make it. According to a Rap-Up concert review, during a 2011 concert, the singer recalled the label’s lukewarm response to her debut solo album. “They told me I didn’t have one hit song on my album,“ Beyoncé told the crowd at New York’s Roseland Ballroom. “I guess they were kind of right. I had five.”

The Success Of ‘Dangerously In Love’
Queen B’s debut album set the way for her to success. Beyonce had five hit songs on her album. Her song along with Jay Z, ‘Crazy in Love’, became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Along with it, ‘Baby Baby’ featuring Sean Paul also topped the charts. Her other songs like ‘Naughty Girl’ and ‘Me, Myself and I’ also topped the charts.
With the highest debut sales, Beyonce had the most successful album launch among the other members of ‘Destiny’s Child‘. ‘Dangerously in Love’ remains her best-selling album to date, with more than 5 million copies sold in the US alone. Having faith in oneself and trusting one’s capabilities can really take you places and Beyonce is a fine example for it.
