Although she is dealing with chronic illness which she has also been quite vocal about, Dion rocked the stage at the opening ceremony.
Two years after her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis, Dion roared back onto the global stage in Paris, where she sang French legend Édith Piaf’s ‘L’Hymne à l’amour‘. Celine Dion took the stage after a long time at the opening ceremony of Paris Olympics 2024. The ‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer has been struggling with stiff-person syndrome, a chronic disease that has been keeping her off the stage since a while now. However, this did not stop her from setting the Paris Olympics’ stage on fire.

After revealing her disease to the world in 2022, Dion was forced to cancel the remaining legs of her ‘Courage’ World Tour. However, the singer did make a comeback a couple of times after that, one of which was also during the Grammys to present the award to Taylor Swift.
Though she did not perform at the time, the singer is seemingly back with her talent, as she seamlessly sparkled in a white gown while performing from the Eiffel Tower.

Paris Olympics 2024 Opening Ceremony Kicks Off With Dazzling Performances
This year, Paris hosted the grandest opening ceremony for the Olympics. Around 10,500 athletes sailed in a 3.5-mile flotilla of 94 boats down Paris’ iconic Seine River. The uniformed athletes cheered and waved to spectators. Apart from Dion’s performance, many others also rocked the stage.
Lady Gaga was one among the many who performed at the opening ceremony. French pop star Aya Nakamura also paid tribute to ‘Les Misérables’ with his performance. The torch bearing ceremony was also fascinating to watch. Tony Estanguet, the president of the Paris 2024 committee, addressed the athletes in a speech as the competition kicked off.
