Chris Hemsworth is done playing the ‘good guy’ in movies. The Thor actor turned into a visionary villain scientist for his new Netflix movie, ‘Spiderhead’.
The film is based on short story by George Saunders called “The New Yorker” . The screenplay is written by “Deadpool” and “Zombieland” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
“Spiderhead” Trailer Is An Interesting Ride
Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming psychological thriller titled “Spiderhead.” The main lead of the movie is Chris Hemsworth who runs a state-of-the-art penitentiary. He plays a character named Steve Abnesti. The inmates in the jail are shackled but not in the traditional sense as there are no bars, no cells or orange jumpsuits in the revolutionary prison called Spiderhead. They instead wear a surgically attached device that administers dosages of mind-altering drugs in exchange for commuted sentences. These prisoners are “free to be themselves… until they’re not”.
“Spiderhead” Cast And Crew
The movie also stars Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett, who play Jeff and Lizzy, respectively. In the trailer, we see things take a turn when two subjects, Jeff and Lizzy, form a connection. Things take a sharp turn for the worst as Abnesti’s experiments begin to push their limits.
Spiderhead has been directed by Joseph Kosinski, who helmed sci-fi films such as “Tron: Legacy and Oblivion”. Kosinski revealed the soundtrack of the movie has some of the finest pop classics. The tracks are by artists such as Thomas Dolby’s “She Blinded Me With Science” and Hall and Oates’ “You Make My Dreams.” He said the idea of incorporating these tracks came to him while he was at the dentist.
The film will release on Netflix on June 17.
