This is the title given to the grand memorial that is going to happen at San Francisco’s Castro Street. The May 23 event will see the closure of Castro Street between Market and 18th Streets.

Traffic will be stopped on this portion of the road for most of the day. And it is not at all a small stretch of road. Closing off Castro Street means closing off the entire neighborhood.

Previously, a memorial for drag queen Heklina was held at the Castro Theatre with a capacity of 1,400 people. However, that was not enough to accommodate everyone. So now a much bigger event is being held to celebrate her legacy.

The memorial for Heklina will be happening on 23 May 2023. It is a crowdfunded event. The LGBTQ+ community has come together to organize a proper memorial for Heklina complete with a drag show.

The event will be hosted by LOL McFiercen and Dulce de Leche, prominent drag queens of San Francisco. A stage will be constructed at Castro Street and a two-hour performance will be held. The event will be starting at 6 p.m. with an indoor memorial being held too. The indoor memorial will be live-streamed for all of Heklina’s fans.

This event will be the epicenter of a big LGBTQ+ crowd that San Francisco has never seen before. So Castro Street can be expected to be closed off starting from noon.
