Sebastian Stan has officially opened up about stepping into the role of Harvey Dent and Two-Face in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman: Part II,’ offering the clearest indication yet that the sequel will heavily explore the character’s psychological collapse. After months of casting and speculation, Stan discussed both the emotional demands of the role and the extensive physical transformation already underway behind the scenes.
The actor confirmed that the production’s hair and makeup department has already finalized plans for Dent’s disfigurement following his transformation into Two-Face. His recent appearance immediately sparked speculation that the sequel will rely heavily on practical prosthetics and custom wig work rather than extensive CGI alterations.
Sebastian Stan Says He Will Play Many Roles In The Batman: Part II

Stan recently teased that he will play “many roles in this one,” a comment that strongly points toward a layered portrayal of Harvey Dent’s fractured personality rather than a simple hero-to-villain arc.
“I’m excited, I’m nervous, and trying to keep surprising myself,” Stan said while discussing his collaboration with the hair and makeup team designing Dent’s disfigurement.
The phrase “many roles” suggests that Matt Reeves plans to focus heavily on Dent’s deteriorating mental state before and after his transformation into Two-Face.
In DC Comics lore, Harvey Dent’s internal struggle often begins long before the acid attack destroys half of his face, and the sequel appears ready to examine multiple emotional and psychological versions of the character throughout the story.

Stan has already begun intense physical preparation for the film. Recent videos circulating online showed the actor undergoing demanding workout sessions connected to the production.
His shaved-head appearance further fueled speculation that the prosthetic design for Two-Face will require extensive makeup application across one side of his head and face.
The Batman: Part II Continues Expanding Matt Reeves’ Gotham

The sequel also continues expanding Reeves’ version of Gotham with one of the largest ensembles attached to a Batman film.
Returning cast members include Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobb, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Barry Keoghan as the Joker, and Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál.

New additions include Scarlett Johansson, whose role remains undisclosed, alongside Brian Tyree Henry, Charles Dance, and Sebastian Koch. Reports surrounding the casting suggest Reeves is building a larger crime-family storyline heavily inspired by the ‘Batman: The Long Halloween’ comic arc.
Principal photography is expected to begin around late May 2026 in London after Reeves teased several camera and lighting tests on social media. ‘The Batman: Part II’ currently remains scheduled for theatrical release on October 1, 2027.
Stan also praised Reeves’ vision for the sequel, calling it a “really ambitious movie” that could “blow people away.”
