Hip-hop is infamous for feuds with some artist or the other flaring up a controversy with the other. One of the recent spats garnered attention from fans across the globe including the one between Kid Cudi and Lupe Fiasco.
While such rifts between two artists are no news for hip-hop, what is happening now is more intense than what the industry has witnessed in the past. Unlike the days of Biggie and Tupac, Kid Cudi and Lupe Fiasco are fighting a battle on social media for millions of people across the world to witness, and even participate in it.

While the beef between Kid Cudi and Lupe Fiasco dates back to 2014, the latest flare-up in their feud came after Cudi made a controversial statement against Fiasco during a recent interview. Cudi said when he worked in retail in 2008, he would hide from successful rappers like Fiasco, fearing that they would potentially use his side job against him.
Kid Cudi is well known for his history of rubbing fellow rappers the wrong way. But it’s different this time. After a prolonged beef with Lupe Fiasco, Kid Cudi surprisingly offered an olive branch to him via Twitter. “Love u g, Im sorry if i hurt u man. Life is too short. Hope u can find it in ur heart to get past this,” he wrote in a post, as he also claimed to have also sent a direct message to Fiasco.
However, Fiasco denied having received any DM from Cudi, and asserted that a mere social media apology wasn’t enough to resolve their issues. “On second thought homey, this ain’t enough. You need to talk to me.”

Fiasco then elaborated on how he used to be friends with Kid Cudi once and where it went wrong. He traced the roots of their falling out back to a 2014 incident when Cudi criticized Fiasco for charging fans $500 for a personalized verse. Fiasco said that though he is trying to address the matter, Cudi has been avoiding him ever since.
Their feud gained prominence again after an interview Cudi had with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. Recounting a 2008 incident when he worked at the clothing store BAPE, Cudi said he feared rappers like Fisco would use his retail past against him in the future, and so he would hide from them.
“If you think about it, he hates me to this day! He hates me,” Cudi said of Fiasco during the interview. “So I was right, I was onto something. I sensed something in the universe. I was like, ‘F— this, I can’t have nobody making a diss record like, ‘Yeah, you rang me up, muthaf—a.’”
In response, Fiasco called Cudi a “bitch who continues to be a bitch“.
“Ain’t nobody finna bring up he used to work at the Bape Store to diss his bitch ass for having a regular job before he was a famous bitch with a cool job,” Fiasco tweeted, indicating that the beef between the two is still as fresh as ever.
