Elon Musk’s rocket business SpaceX and electric vehicle Tesla Inc’s verified Facebook profiles were deleted. This happened just minutes after Elon Musk vowed on Twitter that he did not know there were Facebook pages of his company. And now since he knows about it, he will take them down.
SpaceX and Tesla’s Facebook pages had millions of followers, but alas they are no longer available now. Musk started the conversation by responding to a #deletefacebook tweet from WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton. This comes after Facebook, outraged people by mishandling data. This data later ended up in the hands of Cambridge Analytica. Cambridge Analytica is a political company that worked on US President Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign, the hashtag gained traction.

Many people also encouraged Musk to remove his firm’s Instagram profiles from Facebook’s photo-sharing platform. Musk said that it was acceptable as long as Instagram remained autonomous.
Instagram’s probably ok imo, so long as it stays fairly independent. I don’t use FB & never have, so don’t think I’m some kind of martyr or my companies are taking a huge blow. Also, we don’t advertise or pay for endorsements, so … don’t care.

Musk has already had clashes with Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook Inc. Previously, a verbal spat erupted between Musk and Zuckerberg about whether robots will grow intelligent enough to murder their human creators. When challenged about Musk’s thoughts on the risks of robotics, Zuckerberg chastised skeptics for their reckless predictions. Musk responded by tweeting that his knowledge of the issue is plainly limited.

How Did Musk Come To Know About His Company’s Facebook Page?
Musk stated that he was hearing for the first time that SpaceX has a Facebook page. This is when someone over Twitter shared a screenshot with Elon about his company’s Facebook page. To this Musk responded back by tweeting that it would be gone.
I didn’t realize there was one. Will do.

After that, someone else suggested he deactivate Tesla’s Facebook profile. Well for this tweet Musk replied that it already looks lame. Hence, it was actually the best to take his Facebook Page of Tesla too off. For good measure, the Facebook page for Tesla-owned Solar City appears to have been deleted as well.
But then the Instagram pages of these companies are live despite the fact that Facebook has acquired Instagram. We never know when he will change his mind and delete the pages from Facebook’s Instagram too!
