Sanctions might be imposed on former Russian gymnast Alina Kabaeva. Alina is rumored to be President Vladimir Putin‘s lover and she might face some heat for this very reason.
According to AFP, the European Union has added her name to the sixth batch of sanctions against Russia. This is in response to its war in Ukraine. Kabaeva is the CEO of National Media Group. It owns holdings in nearly every major government-controlled media outlet. Sanctions are being in progress against her for spreading Russian propaganda and her ties to Putin. So, who is this lady?
Vladimir Putin’s Link With Alina Kabaeva And Her Rift With European Union
Kabaeva is a two-time Olympic medalist in gymnastics. As a young gymnast, she is said to have met Vladimir Putin. According to reports, her friendship with Putin aided her and her family in amassing a huge fortune. The Russian president, on the other hand, has denied having any romantic relationships with her.
CNN stated that she recently pushed Russians to back their country’s assault on Ukraine. The proposal for sanctions and penalties against Kabaeva is pending approval by the European Union. Also, member nations can still decide whether to remove or add names to the list. As a result, Kabaeva’s assets will be cut off from her. Further, she will not get permission to enter the European Union if the sanctions get approval.

Others Who Have Been Targets Of These Sanctions
