The Emmy-winning actor opened up about his addiction to alcohol in 2021. Leslie had his first drink when he was merely 14 years old, because of alcohol was prohibited in his family and he was inquisitive. In his signature wit, Jordan said, “We were Baptist. There was no alcohol in our family. We were teetotalers. I remember that all of a sudden, I wasn’t that awkward kid who didn’t know what to do with his arms, who was afraid the ax was going to fall at any time. It hit me: I was adorable, I was precious. And I stayed precious and adorable for the next 33 years.”

Jordan gave life in the lockdown with his small videos. In one of his videos, he shared his coming-out story. He recalled coming out to his mother at the age of 12. Jordan said in the video, “When I was about 12, I told her. I confided in her. She was my best friend. I told her I thought I was gay.” It is always terrible when it comes to the reactions of the kin when one comes out. However, his mother told him, “You know son. I think that you probably just need to lead a quiet life, otherwise you’ll be subject to ridicule and I could not bear that.”

Alcohol is how he could be boisterous himself. He admitted, “I felt it was a lot easier to be gay when I was loaded. My problem was I was a bar drinker. I started getting DUIs. My gosh. And that one year, I got three in a row. They sentenced me to 120 days.”

He continued, “I was there 14 days, and that was it. The judge told me, he said, ‘If you so much as misbehave at all, I’ll put you back in jail, Mister Jordan.’ “

The ‘Boston Legal’ actor wrote a memoir back in 2008 titled ‘My Trip Down the Pink Carpet’. In the memoir, he wrote about his substance abuse and addiction to…sex! He was obsessed with his mostly straight co-stars on many sets. During the 1993 series, ‘Lois and Clark, he was having a crush on the lead who played Clark, Dean Cain. In the memoir, he said, “Dean Cain was stunning, and the sight of him strutting about in his Superman outfit was truly magnificent. I showed up on the set determined not to ‘peter-gaze,’ or at least not to get caught at it.”

However, one encounter when he was sent to prison due to the DUIs because of alcohol addiction was with the ‘Iron Man’ star Robert Downey Jr. When he was sent to prison for 14 days, he got lucky to have shared a cell with Robert Downey Jr.

He was obsessed to see Billy Bob Thornton’s penis while shooting for ‘Heart’s Afire’. He recalled going surfing with him and post-surfing, he went to showers. His co-star, John Ritter told him that Billy’s rope would make him “fall in love” with him. However, Jordan did not have any luck. He said, “There are probably a lot of things I’ll go a lifetime without seeing – the Mona Lisa, the Taj Mahal, the pyramids. And I’ll probably never see Billy Bob’s wiener, either.”
