DC is prepping for the much-awaited release of The Flash after finally launching its trailer at the CinemaCon. The Flash marks the return of Michael Keaton as Batman after 3 decades. However, the audience is still waiting for confirmation on the return of Henry Cavill as Superman in this film. And with the latest news of General Zod‘s return, Cavill’s cameo doesn’t seem far now.
The Return Of General Zod In The Flash Hinting Towards The Cameo Of Henry Cavill?
DC brought in Henry Cavill as Superman in 2013 with Man Of Steel. And the audience welcomed Cavill with open arms. While the audience seems still in awe of Cavill as the superhero, DC now appears to be dubious about continuing with him. Cavill last appeared as Superman in the Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League that was released in 2021.
Amidst DC’s undecided stance on the future of Henry Cavill as Superman, buzz suggested that he might appear in a cameo in The Flash. And now, with the film’s trailer out, there’s another sign suggesting the same. According to Scott Mendelson, The Flash’s teaser included the appearance of Man Of Steel’s villain, General Zod. “The Flash teaser features Michael Keaton in full Batman attire and brief glimpses of Supergirl and Zod,” he wrote in a tweet.

General Zod portrayed by Michael Shannon played the central antagonist in Cavill’s Superman flick Man Of Steel. And now his confirmed presence in The Flash seems like a tease for Cavill’s return in the film too. Moreover, with The Flash serving as the ground for Ben Affleck to return as Batman, the stage seems set for Cavill to follow the same path.
Henry Cavill has previously shared his interest in reprising the role. Moreover, Warner Bros has also expressed the status of Superman as their top priority. It explained Superman as DC’s “top-shelf character” who has been “left to languish” and “needs to be revitalized.”
And the return of Affleck who appeared with Cavill in Justice League hints at the perfect opportunity for Cavill’s return too. Moreover, General Zod’s presence in the film has provided relevancy to the idea of Superman, hopefully, reprised by Henry Cavill, being in The Flash.
