Lobo’s ‘Supergirl’ Era Could End With DC’s Most Shocking Death Yet

Lobo has barely had time to become one of DC’s biggest names again, and the publisher is already teasing his death. ‘Supergirl’ made the Main Man an even more significant figure in 2026, appearing in the DCU alongside the former.

While the live-action version is just starting, DC’s comics seem to have something much darker in store for Lobo.

Lobo Has Finally Met Something That Can Kill Him

The title immediately raises suspicion, since Lobo is one of those characters who’s made death look like a joke. The Czarnian has been blown apart, decapitated, resurrected, and otherwise subjected to the kind of punishment that would permanently end almost anyone else’s story.

But Lobo has always been able to find a way back. That’s the reason why this storyline is fascinating. The warning comes with Lobo #7, which will be kicking off “The Last Death of Lobo.” The Main Man will face something in DC’s solicitation that will overcome his ability to regenerate and likely kill him for good.

That’s a pretty big claim to fame for a character who has pretty much challenged writers to come up with new ideas to resurrect him. The cover picture makes the situation seem even worse. Lobo looks like he’s been shot in the head, and he’s surrounded by weird purple growths, so it’s not just some other guy with a bigger gun.

And that’s the kind of threat Lobo needs. He’s been through so much being beaten up by so many villains, it wouldn’t matter much if another one beat him. If DC wants his death to have any impact, they must attack what has always made Lobo nearly invulnerable.

His Supergirl Connection Makes The Timing Fascinating

It’s especially fascinating because Lobo has just gained a massive following with ‘Supergirl’. His weird relationship with Kara has also been carried over into the comic as well, where the two have met up again after the movie.

That makes his potential death feel less like a random comic-book event and more like DC testing what happens when one of its newly prominent characters is pushed to the absolute limit. Of course, comic-book readers know better than almost anyone that the word “permanent” should be treated carefully.

Lobo #8 is already being marketed as “Last Death of Lobo, Part 2 of Eternity,” so this isn’t supposed to be a one-issue fake-out. Whether DC genuinely kills the Main Man or eventually finds the most ridiculous resurrection imaginable, one thing is certain: Lobo’s death is about to become one of his biggest stories yet.
