The director of the Oscar-winning movie ‘La La Land‘, Damien Chazelle, is back with yet another 1920s Hollywood comedy-drama. The movie is scheduled to be released in theatres on December 25, 2022. As described by IMDb, it is a tale of outsized ambition and excess, in an era of decadence and depravity in early Hollywood. But, is it based on a true story?

Is ‘Babylon’ Inspired By A True Story?
Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie’s upcoming movie ‘Babylon‘ is not based on any true story, although it is said to be inspired by many. In a recent interview, Director Chazelle told that he came up with the idea of a movie that could be described as “big, epic and multicharacter“, and is set in the early days of Hollywood and Los Angeles.
The movie itself is not based on a true story, but the characters are inspired by a combination of many early Hollywood stars. Margot Robbie’s character Nellie LaRoy is a combination of Hollywood stars including Clara Bow, Jeanne Eagles, Joan Crawford, and Alma Rubens. Whereas, Brad Pitt’s character Jack Conrad is inspired by stars such as John Gilbert, Clark Gable, and Douglas Fairbanks.
