Travis Kelce is fully embracing his role as the “plus one” in his relationship with fiancée Taylor Swift. During the May 13 episode of the New Heights podcast, which Kelce co-hosts with his brother Jason Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs star joked with comedian Colin Jost about being the less recognizable partner in a high-profile relationship.
“As two guys who are also of the plus one fraternity and have the same experience, how nice is it to be the less famous person in your relationship?” Kelce asked Jost.
Kelce and Swift announced their engagement in August 2025. The global pop star, known for hits including So High School, remains one of the world’s most recognizable entertainers. Jost, who married Hollywood A-lister Scarlett Johansson in 2020, responded that the dynamic has been a “huge relief.”
However, Jost admitted Johansson’s level of fame often changes the way the public interacts with them as a couple. “It’s really funny because I think I’m probably almost approached more because she’s less approachable. Because I’m on TV… people are just like, I’m in their living room, so they were just like, ‘Hey, what’s up, man? How’s going?’ She’s actually almost. like, so famous that they don’t believe it a lot of times.”

Jost also recalled a memorable moment during a passport check involving Johansson, highlighting just how surreal her level of fame can be. According to Jost, a customs officer once looked at Johansson and asked, “Has anyone ever told you you look like Scarlet Johansson?”
“He’s like, ‘It would be weirder if it was her,’ and just give it back to her,” Jost said, adding, “It’s really kind of awesome.” Travis Kelce quickly embraced the joke and replied, “Shout out to the plus ones out there!” The conversation continued with Jost humorously comparing the similarities between their relationships. The comedian also shared that marrying Johansson has influenced parts of his stand-up material, giving him plenty of new experiences to draw from on stage.
Travis Kelce Previously Praised Taylor Swift’s Work Ethic And Public Support

Travis Kelce has previously spoken publicly about supporting Taylor Swift and relating to the pressures of fame. In an August 2025 interview with GQ, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end described himself as “the plus one” in their relationship. “I get to be the plus one. I get to go and be that fan. Because I am a fan,” Kelce said at the time.
He continued, “I’m a fan of music. I’m a fan of art. And it’s so cool that I get to experience her being that plus one for me on the football field…. I feel that same enjoyment every time she comes to my shows.”
Kelce also said he and Swift understand the demands that come with performing in front of large audiences. “I hadn’t experienced somebody in the same shoes as me, having a partner who understands the scrutiny, understands the ups and downs of being in front of millions,” he said.
