The Miz believes a memorable moment inside a WWE ring may have played a role in Jelly Roll’s remarkable weight loss transformation. Speaking on Access Live on April 14, 2026, Mizanin said he is “taking credit for Jelly Roll’s, basically, new look, if you will.”
The remark came while he was promoting the upcoming reboot of American Gladiators, which premieres April 17, 2026, on Prime Video. Jelly Roll has shed nearly 300 pounds over the past few years. Once weighing around 550 pounds, he revealed in January 2026 that he had slimmed down to 265 pounds.
Mizanin connected that transformation to an appearance at SummerSlam 2024, where Roll stepped into the ring alongside the ‘A-Lister’ and R-Truth. They took on Austin Theory and Grayson Waller during the event.
Recalling the moment, Mizanin said, “Jelly Roll was in the ring — big guy, huge guy. Before he lost all the weight, he choke-slammed a [WWE] superstar, and he kind of fell, and I had to pick him up.”
According to Mizanin, that experience proved to be a turning point. “In that moment, he actually told me, he was like, ‘That’s when I realized, when I was in that ring, that I needed to make a change for the better. And he did.’”
Mizanin concluded by saying, “So yeah — I am taking credit, and I am patting myself on the back. But no — he did do blood, sweat and tears. And now he’s preparing for WrestleMania 42, as am I.”

Roll has consistently documented his fitness journey over the past several years, giving fans an honest and transparent look at his transformation. Beyond his physical progress, he has also become increasingly involved in recent WWE storylines, making his in-ring debut at SummerSlam 2025 alongside Randy Orton in a tag team match against Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre.
He has since remained part of the build toward WrestleMania 42, aligning himself with Cody Rhodes while continuing to show noticeable improvement inside the ring. The country music artist first began actively focusing on weight loss in 2022 and has provided regular updates through interviews, performances, and public appearances, underscoring both his physical transformation and commitment to change.
Jelly Roll’s Longstanding Struggle With Weight And Motivation For Change

Jelly Roll has spoken openly about his lifelong challenges with weight and the reasons behind his decision to change. On The Joe Rogan Experience, he said, “It was right around my 39th birthday that I started really considering taking the step to try to make a major change in my life.”
He added, “I thought about it around my birthday because I knew my next one was 40, and I was like, ‘I don’t think I’ve ever met a 500-lb 40-year-old.’”
The singer has also reflected on how his nickname began. Speaking on The Bobby Bones Show, he said his mother called him Jelly Roll because he was a “chubby kid.” He said, “I’ve been fat my whole life.”

In another interview on the Dumb Blonde Podcast, he addressed how his weight intersected with his career. “What I want the world to know, and I want people to see … is that I didn’t become successful because of my weight. I became successful in spite of it.”
Following his appearance at SummerSlam 2024, Roll shared his reaction on social media, calling the experience a milestone moment in his life as a wrestling fan.
