‘Avengers: Doomsday’ might be Marvel Studios’ biggest challenge for Sam Wilson. A new rumor suggests that Anthony Mackie’s Captain America will create a new Avengers team to face Doctor Doom. And the team will feature familiar characters and some new allies.
Sam Wilson Could Lead A Smaller Avengers Team
The team reportedly includes Sam Wilson, Steve Rogers, Thor, Shang-Chi, Falcon, Bucky Barnes, and Ant-Man. Though Marvel hasn’t officially confirmed these details, the rumored cast list suggests the upcoming movie might not immediately throw all available superheroes at the audience.
The film might take a more intimate and well-rounded approach to Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. The rumour is that Sam will lead the new Avengers team, with Steve Rogers behind him and by his side. This could be a significant development for Sam, who took over the mantle a while ago.
Sam has no superhuman strength or physical abilities like Steve. His leadership, tactical thinking, and ability to unite people have always been his best asset. If he is going to face off against a man as menacing as Doctor Doom, he’ll have to prove that he is worthy of being a leader in a world that needs him.
The reported team is also said to be small because of a lack of trust. If true, it may indicate that the heroes will not be fighting as a cohesive team when Doom strikes. However, when the odds are against him more than ever, Sam might have to be careful about who he can count on.
Why Shang-Chi’s Recruitment Could Be Important
One thing that’s really interesting is that Sam is reportedly personally recruiting Shang-Chi. The martial artist has the ability to wield powerful mystical weapons that may come in handy against a strong opponent like Doom.

Thor would bring a lot of cosmic power, Bucky and Falcon would bring combat experience, and Ant-Man would bring unconventional solutions with his knowledge of the Quantum Realm. Sam would also have someone to rely on as he takes on his new role, someone who knows what he’s doing.
The lineup, however, is still not confirmed, and Marvel may have more surprises in store. The multiverse may be on the line, and even a small group of Avengers might be up against an almost insurmountable challenge. If true, then Sam Wilson may finally have the chance to make his own mark as the leader of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
