Anne Hathaway and Nicolas Galitzine’s ‘The Idea Of You‘ seems like it’s a straight out of a Wattpad fan fiction story. As the trailer launched, fans pointed out the crazy similarities between the film’s plot and hundreds of Harry Styles fan fiction stories that came out years ago.

Is The Movie Based On A Harry Styles Fan Fiction?
When asked by Extra if Harry Styles served as an inspiration for the movie ‘The Idea Of You‘, Hathaway responded with a “No, just no.”
She then went into detail about what the film is about. “My character had her heart just absolutely smashed by her ex-husband, and it wasn’t just that her heart that got broken,” she said, adding, “She invested so much in her family. You know, there’s a line in the piece about how she’s a former people pleaser, and I think she made a lot of kind of grown-up choices throughout her life. She got pregnant really young and she’s like, ‘I’m gonna raise this baby,’ and she took it really seriously. And you know what? She did great. She’s raised a great kid, she’s built a business… She’s doing like a lot of things right, and then when her husband does this awful thing to her, she has to wonder if she was ever really loved in the first place, and so that’s a long time to live with that question.”
Hathaway then added, “And so, in this relationship, I think she begins thinking it’s just gonna be a bit of fun,” she went on, “and then she realizes it’s something more, and if she’s gonna actually participate in it, she’s gonna have to let some other things go.”
The film has received very positive reviews ever since it came out. As of now, it’s available in theatres but will soon premiere on Amazon Prime Video.

What Is Anne Hathaway’s ‘The Idea Of You’ About?
‘The Idea of You‘ is partially inspired by the same-titled 2017 book by Robinne Lee. It’s about a sweet romance that begins with a Coachella concert, between Soléne (Anne Hathaway), an art gallerist and divorced single mother, and Hayes (Nicholas Galitzine), a member of a renowned boy band. 16 years her junior, Hayes starts dating Soléne as the two embark on a steamy relationship.
If the plot sounds a little familiar then that’s probably because this is how most plots revolving around boy band fan fiction go. Be it BTS or One Direction, Wattpad is filled with amateur authors writing their hearts out about concert romance. This is why, fans have wondered if the character of Hayes is based on Harry Styles.
