    4. Gone Girl (2014)

    Suit up space cadets, because we’re blasting off to Mars with this out-of-this-world adventure! Andy Weir’s science fiction novel, self-published in 2011 before hitting the big leagues in 2014 is one of its kind.

    The sci-fi novel took readers on a thrilling journey across the Red Planet with astronaut Mark Watney as our guide. Directed by Ridley Scott, the movie adaptation of this bestseller starred Matt Damon as the wisecracking Watney.

    Throughout the movie, our lead finds himself stranded on Mars and must use his wits to survive which he happens to have plenty of. With its blend of humor, heart, and nail-biting suspense, ‘The Martian’ had the audience praying for Watney’s return to Earth. Needless to say, the silver screen did justice to Andy Weir’s complex tale of the extent of human willpower.
