Timothee Chalamet-starrer ‘Dune: Part Two’ is making the waves since its recent release with a blockbuster performance at the box office. The movie saw a delayed release because of the Hollywood actors’ and writer’s strike. But that might just have worked as buffer time for the movie creators to brew plans for a third part to the movie.
Denis Villeneuve’s film ‘Dune‘ first hit the theatres back in 2021, with second one released recently in 2024. The movies are based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. With a star-packed cast and action-packed scenes, ‘Dune: Part Two‘ was an instant hit. The massive success of the sequel has now fueled the need for the third one.

‘Dune’ Franchise May Have A Third Movie
‘Dune: Part One‘ grossed over $402 million at the worldwide box office in 2021. And the sequel is also breaking records. Amid the success, fans can’t help but recall the director’s promise to bring in a third part — and the way the second movie is being received by the viewers has further intensified the hopes. “If I succeed in making a trilogy, that would be the dream,” filmmaker Denis Villeneuve had told the Empire before the sequel’s release.
Though the series goes on, Villeneuve said her will only create three parts if given a chance because books become more specialized thereon. “Dune Messiah was written in reaction to the fact that people perceived Paul Atreides as a hero. Which is not what he wanted to do,” the director explained.
“My adaptation [of Dune] is closer to his idea that it’s actually a warning,” he added. Villeneuve also gave hope by teasing that “there are words on paper.”
