Wait, Did Nicki Minaj And Ice Spice Win ‘Best Rap Song’ For ‘Barbie’ At the Grammys?

The Grammys 2024 have commenced the ceremony of honoring the best of the best music that came out in 2023. Artists like SZA and Taylor Swift have dominated the nomination race. SZA and Victoria Monét have been leading the R&B category. Whereas Killer Mike has dominated the rap category. But the Recording Academy had a mishap that included Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice.

Nicki Minaj has been in the rap game for more than a decade now. The rap artist has received 12 Grammy nominations in her career. In 2024, Minaj was nominated for ‘Barbie World’ with Ice Spice in the ‘Best Song Written For Visual Media’ category. Ice Spice is also nominated in the ‘Best Artist’ category. But, during the pre-show announcements, the Recording Academy accidentally announced ‘Barbie World’ as the ‘Best Rap Song’ only to delete it, which angered Barbz.

The Grammys have made a major blunder with their pre-show announcement of the ‘Best Rap Song’ winner at the Grammys 2024. There were many rap extraordinaires nominated in the category. Artists like Doja Cat, Lil Uzi Vert, Drake, 21 Savage, and others were nominated in the category with their respective nominated songs.

Along with them, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice’s ‘Barbie World’ was also nominated in the category. ‘Scientists & Engineers’ by André 3000 and Killer Mike were also nominated. The social media team announced the winner before the show.

They first announced that Nicki and the ‘Munch’ rapper had won the Grammy. However, they pulled out the tweet immediately and gave the award to Killer Mike. The mistake has caused a stir on social media, as Barbz calls it a smear campaign against Nicki Minaj, following her beef with Megan Thee Stallion after she released her diss track ‘Hiss’.

Recently, Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj’s beef has caused a stir on social media. It came after Megan dissed Nicki’s husband and brother with her ‘Megan’s Law’ verse on ‘Hiss’. This made the ‘Pink Friday’ rapper go on an X, aka Twitter, rant spree, and she also released a song called ‘Big Foot’ alluding to the controversy.

Now, Barbz has reacted strongly to the Recording Academy’s blunder.

This mark 12th loss of Nicki Minaj at the Grammys after she lost in both the categories she was nominated during Grammys 2024.
