DC Creative Designer Reveals Drake Was Considered For Cyborg Role

One cannot imagine the versatility of Champagne Papi! 4 Grammy Awards, 15 Grammy nominations, and a few projects to his credit where he showcased his acting prowess. Drake has done it all.

DCEU has some fascinating projects in the pipeline. After a praise-worthy storyline of Robert Pattinson’s The Batman, DCEU has other projects like DC League Of Super Pets, Black Adam, a prequel to the Shazam, where Black Adam is the villain. Another set is Shazam 2: Fury Of Gods, Batgirl, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

However, during the 2014 announcement of DCEU projects, an independent film of Victor Stone’s Cyborg was in consideration. Ray Fisher appeared as Cyborg in Batman Vs Superman and Justice League. There was a strong rumor that he might appear in the anticipated The Flash, but it was just a conjecture. And now, one DC designer has revealed that Drake was in consideration to play Cyborg in a now-shelved series.

The character of Cyborg was first a part of Teen Titans before he became a part of Justice League. Victor Stone AKA Cyborg is an amalgamation of a human and machine. Like other superheroes, he also goes through dilemmas and confusion.

Averse to the world of Science and Technology unlike his parents, Victor has other plans in store for him. What’s life if it goes according to the structured plan? Fate has something else reserved for him. After a tragic incident, his father Dr. Silas aids Victor with the help of science to convert him into a superior being.

Ray Fisher played the character. He appeared in “Batman Vs Superman: Dawn Of Justice” and later in both Justice Leagues by Zack Snyder and Whedon. Snyder praised him and said his performance was “the heart of the movie.” After the cameo and a full-fledged character, DC Comics and Warner Bros. decided to have an independent film for Cyborg.

In October 2014 DC Comics announced characters to be portrayed on the big screen. Things were positive until another turn of events made Fisher’s future turbulent in the DCEU. During the reshoots for Justice League, he thought his opinion was not valued. He had disagreements with the director Joss Whedon and other producers on the film.

Fisher had some creative differences and protested doing or saying some things which included his discomfort in saying “Boo-yah.” In an interview, when the talks on an independent film were still going on, Ray wanted to make the “Cyborg” film diverse and have a cast and crew members from diverse backgrounds to make it inclusive.

He referred to Black Panther as an epitome of representation of different cultures and people with a visually enthralling narrative. From 2014 until the present day, there have been no positive updates about the film. Fisher stated the reason why the film was halted for such a long time. As opposed to several characters, Cyborg is a completely CGI-born character. Due to this, a hefty amount of money was required to be invested. However, a new revelation has come out regarding Cyborg’s independent future.

The Creature and Character Designer Jared Krichevsky took it to his social media to share the artwork of Cyborg. Jared is currently mounting for James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.3. He has conceptualized Wonder Woman, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Wolverine. While sharing the artwork of Cyborg, Krichevsky wrote, “And yes, they wanted to cast Drake at one point. This was for a series that didn’t happen.”

Drake is a man with many talents. His acting debut was in the early 2000s show Degrassi. He also gave a voiceover in Ice-Age: Continental Drift. So as far as all the details, there were positive talks for a Cyborg film which later was to be converted into a long format series and now it has completely halted. The fans and audience would love to see Drake as a superhero, but Reddit fans do not seem quite happy with the idea.
