“I Was Nervous”: Cindy Crawford Recalls Visiting Young Prince William When He Had A Crush On Her

Netflix’s ‘The Crown’, which chronicles the lives of the royal family members of the United Kingdom, has come to an end. The last season focused on how they moved forward after the death of Princess Diana. A little titbit was how Prince William discovered supermodels as a teen, with a crush on Cindy Crawford.

The supermodel has now responded to the “little cameo” she had on ‘The Crown’ and revealed the story behind it. She actually met the young Prince and his brother in a meeting arranged by their mother, Princess Diana.

It’s no secret that Princess Diana was a tenacious mother who did everything to ensure a good life for her two sons – Prince William and Prince Harry. William was like any other teenager when he noticed the glam supermodels who were taking the world by storm with their gorgeous looks and fit figures. Diana, being aware of this, asked Cindy Crawford to visit the royals the next time she was in London.

After ‘The Crown’ included that anecdote in the series, Crawford took to Instagram to share a throwback picture with Princess Diana from the visit and revealed how things actually transpired. She wrote, “Remembering this inspiring woman today. This photo was taken at Kensington Palace. Princess Diana had somehow got the number to my office and called herself to ask for me. My assistant was in shock! We finally connected and she asked if the next time I was in London I would come by for tea — I think Prince William was just starting to notice models and she thought it would be a cute surprise for him and Prince Harry.

She further added, “I was nervous and didn’t know what to wear, but remember as soon as she came into the room and we started talking, it was like talking to a girlfriend. She was a class act and showed us all what a modern day princess should be. Rest In Peace #PrincessDiana. #TBT.”

In an episode of ‘The Crown’ Season 6, Prince Philip visits Prince William’s dorm room and sees pictures of supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Claudia Schiffer on his wall.

While William, played by Luther Ford in the Netflix drama, gets visibly awkward, his grandfather Philip, played by Jonathan Pryce, makes him comfortable by saying, “Nothing to be ashamed of! Do they have names? In my day it was Rita Hayworth, Betty Grable and Lana Turner.”

Crawford shared the clip from ‘The Crown‘ on Instagram also, recalling the bygone time.

On No Filter with Naomi, the supermodel had recounted the story of how Diana had arranged for her, Schiffer and Christy Turlington to surprise Prince William when he was in school. Obviously, the young man blushed at all the beauty around him.

Prince William is now married to Kate Middleton and they have three kids together.
