Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have gone down in history as one of the rare royal family couples that stepped down from their royal responsibilities for the sake of love and freedom. However, their names remained on the royal family website as a part of the monarch’s family.

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Profiles On The Royal Website Have Been Merged
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bios on the royal family’s official website, Royal.UK, have undergone a significant update. As of Monday, the individual profiles of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been merged into a single joint profile though both of them had separate bios on the website earlier.
The change was first noticed by the fan blog Gert’s Royals, and the internet soon went abuzz with speculations. As Prince Harry and Meghan’s respective profiles have now been replaced with a joint profile featured on ‘The Royal Family‘ page alongside other members of the monarchy.
The joint profile begins with a statement acknowledging the couple’s decision to step back from their royal roles in 2020. “As announced in January 2020, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back as working members of The Royal Family. The couple married in St George’s Chapel, Windsor on 19 May 2018 and have two children: Prince Archie of Sussex and Princess Lilibet of Sussex,” the statement reads, referring to their children.

Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Are Still Using The Title Sussex
Under the headings “About the Duke of Sussex” and “About the Duchess of Sussex,” the page summarizes key highlights from their individual backgrounds, including Prince Harry’s military service and the establishment of the Invictus Games, as well as Meghan’s acting career and her lifestyle blog, The Tig.
The updated bio also redirects visitors to the couple’s official website, sussex.com, for information about their current work. The launch of sussex.com in February came with the revelation that Prince Harry and Meghan are using ‘Sussex’ as their children’s surname, in line with royal tradition.
The launch of sussex.com drew criticism in the U.K. as the couple has stepped down from royal duties and is still seemingly using the tradition to their advantage. Many accused the couple of attempting to reclaim royal status through the rebrand.
In response to the backlash, a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stated their commitment to their work and values. “We’ve heard time and time again that certain opportunities are make or break for the couple. They’re still here,” the representative was quoted as saying by The Mirror.
