The prince made his first public comments on the matter during a gala honoring the London Air Ambulance Charity, which was also graced by some high-profile celebrities like actor Tom Cruise.
The 41-year-old royal thanked the public for the kindness bestowed upon his family during the challenging times. “I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all,” Prince William said at the charity event.
The prince made sure to not turn the atmosphere entirely gloomy as he used a bit of humor to address the situation. “It’s fair to say the past few weeks have had a rather ‘medical’ focus. So I thought I’d come to an air ambulance function to get away from it all,” he said.
