Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have carved their path in the US after stepping down from their royal duties in 2020. Since the couple exited the royal family, the rift between them and the royal family has grown due to the constant slandering of the family’s image via different content pieces and interviews that Harry and Meghan released publicly.
When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved to the US, they signed multi-million-dollar deals with different streaming platforms for their content. The couple reportedly signed a $100 million contract with Netflix and, till now, delivered three docuseries, including the explosive exposé titled ‘Harry & Meghan’. To step into the podcast area, Archewell Audio and the couple signed a $20 million deal with Spotify to stream Meghan Markle’s podcast, ‘Archetypes’. However, in June 2023, Spotify and Archewell Audio parted ways. Now, the CEO, Daniel Ek, addressed whether it was worth it to part ways with the couple.
Spotify’s CEO Wishes Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Success
In a recent interview with the BBC, Spotify’s CEO, Daniel Ek, talked about whether it was worth it to have a $20 million deal with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, despite the couple failing to attract an audience. The host asked Daniel, “You had some pretty big names. You had the Obamas. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Was that worth £18?”
Daniel Ek answered, “We thought new innovation was needed to happen here. We thought we can come in and offer a great experience that both makes consumers very happy and allows new creators new avenues.”
The Spotify CEO admitted to making some past mistakes and wished the creators they parted ways with all the success. He added, “And the truth of the matter is some of it has worked, some of it hasn’t. We’re learning from those and we are moving on and we wish all of the ones we didn’t renew with the best of success they can have going forward.”

He said, “I wish I had been involved in the ‘Meghan and Harry leave Spotify’ negotiation. ‘The Fucking Grifters.’ That’s the podcast we should have launched with them.”
