Director Eric Kripke is shutting down one of the potential concerns that fans may have as they wait for ‘The Boys’ prequel, ‘Vought Rising’.
Although the prequel series will delve into the past of some of the iconic supes, Kripke says that viewers shouldn’t expect to see Stormfront’s image being softened or her becoming a misunderstood antihero.
The Prequel Will Dig Deeper into Soldier Boy’s Past, But Stormfront Will Not Evoke Sympathy

That one comment has generated a lot of discussion on the internet. In modern TV, viewers are accustomed to the villain origin story, which attempts to make bad guys good. Kripke, however, says that Stormfront is not receiving that treatment. When talking about the show’s take on the character formerly known as Liberty, he said point-blank, “She’s a Nazi, and she sucks.”

‘Vought Rising’ will take place in the 1950s and feature some of the earliest V-powered superheroes. Stormfront’s ideology will be thoroughly denounced. However, the series will presumably take more time to explore Soldier Boy’s emotional side.
“Soldier Boy? I think it’s teasing that he really had feelings for Clara more than he had let on. And that you’ll see a lot of that play out in Vought Rising. You’ll understand a little bit more of what Soldier Boy and Bombsight’s relationship is, and why they resent each other, in ‘Vought Rising.’”
This is exactly the kind of messy relationship drama that The Boys is made for, right? The show has always been about the merging of celebrity culture, politics, and superhero mythology, and ‘Vought Rising’ seems poised to do just that.
New Viewers Won’t Need To Watch ‘The Boys’ First For ‘Vought Rising’

One surprising detail from Kripke’s comments is how accessible the prequel is supposed to be. Despite being deeply connected to The Boys universe, the show is reportedly designed to work for complete newcomers as well.

Kripke admitted that there were viewers who had never seen ‘The Boys’ who were tested. Many of them still liked the show. It’s probably a good idea for Amazon, particularly because the franchise is still going strong with several spinoffs and timelines.
Nevertheless, those who have been watching for a long time will undoubtedly enjoy most of the thrill of watching how Vought International initially built its corrupt superhero empire. However, if what Kripke has said is any indication, the prequel won’t be afraid to show just how ugly that history is.
