During an appearance on the May 7 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Sharon Stone shared the awkward story with host Jimmy Kimmel. Stone explained that after auditioning for General Hospital, she was called in to meet with a casting director.

Stone described the woman as very old-school. “The lady called me in to discuss my audition, and she was the very old-school type of casting director who had the gigantic beehive and the cat-eye glasses, which were now down on her nose,” she remembered.

According to Stone, the casting director made her stand there while she talked on the phone. After finally ending the call, the woman looked over her glasses and told her, “‘We’ll be sending you back.’

However, the moment became even stranger after that. Stone revealed that the casting director added, “‘You have no mystery,’” Stone said. “And I was like, ‘Huh?’ And I just didn’t know what to do with that.”

Kimmel reacted strongly after hearing the story and told Stone that the comment sounded like “a horrible thing” to say to someone. Stone replied, “First of all, it doesn’t mean anything.” She also joked that the casting director probably wanted to “mind f—” her “because we don’t know what we’re doing, so we’re just going to put it on you.

The ‘Euphoria‘ star admitted she had very little acting experience at the time, as she was only 19. “I’d done a lot of commercials at that point, but nothing else,” she shared. The role later went to Genie Francis, who joined the soap in 1977 and eventually became one of daytime television’s biggest names.

After returning to New York, Stone told her roommate about the painful experience. She recalled that her roommate comforted her by saying, “‘Baby, you’re Technicolor in a black and white world.’ ” Stone also called her “a good roommate.”

Kimmel later told the actress, “I feel you have a lot of mystery. I don’t know what she was talking about, that lady.” Stone laughed and responded, “I made a career on mystery.”

That statement turned out to be completely true. Stone later became famous for playing mysterious and unforgettable women in films like Total Recall and Basic Instinct. She also earned an Academy Award nomination for ‘Casino‘ alongside Robert De Niro.
