As HBO gets ready to bring ‘Harry Potter‘ back with a new TV series, fans are not just excited about the story. Many are also curious about how the original stars feel about this big change.
After Daniel Radcliffe, now Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley in the films, has shared her honest thoughts about the new ‘Harry Potter‘ HBO cast and comparisons to the original cast.
Bonnie Wright Talks About The Pressure On New ‘Harry Potter’ Cast

During a panel at Calgary Expo, Bonnie Wright spoke to Maggie Lovitt about the reboot and the new cast. She made it clear that things will feel very different for them compared to when she started.

“I guess it’s difficult for us, because they’re on the other side of it,” Wright said. She added that it will likely be “more intense” for the new actors. When she worked alongside Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, social media was not part of everyday life.
She explained that the world was simply different back then. Fame came from premieres, interviews, and magazines. Today, everything happens online. Every costume reveal, set photo, and performance can be judged instantly. Wright said she feels the experience will be very different for the new cast because of this constant attention.
At the same time, she shared a positive view regarding the reboot. She said, “And the only thing I believe I do celebrate is that it’s continuing.” She added that it is nice to see people still wanting to tell these stories and stay connected to that world.
Wright Wants More Stories From The Wizarding World

Wright also spoke about the future of the Wizarding World beyond just the reboot. She shared her thoughts as a fan of the stories, not just as someone who acted in the films.
She said there are many characters and storylines that she would love to see explored. “As a fan of stories, there’s like a million different characters that I’d love to pick up shows to,” she said. She mentioned the Aurors and the members of the ‘Order of the Phoenix‘ as strong possibilities.

Wright also talked about the Marauders. These include James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Pettigrew. Their story has always been popular among fans, but the films only showed a small part of it. She shared that she loves those characters and would enjoy seeing their story told in more detail.
She also mentioned a specific timeline that interests her. She said she would love to see the years before Harry’s parents died, adding that exploring that period would bring a fresh story. That time, during the First Wizarding War, could show more about how Lord Voldemort rose to power and how the Order of the Phoenix fought against him.
For now, HBO’s series will go back to the beginning and retell the original story. Still, Wright’s comments show that there is much more to explore.
