Has Taylor Swift Actually Written Any Songs For Her Favorite Show ‘Gilmore Girls’?

Gilmore Girls‘ has often been considered as one of the greatest TV shows ever made in the early 2000s – something that’s hard to argue with. While the show has stood the test of time and continues to be relevant, even decades later, it has also often been associated with Taylor Swift.

Mostly it’s because of fans of both the fandoms finding little easter eggs and connections between both, and some might argue that Lorelai Gilmore is so Taylor Swift-coded. Here are a few hints and connections that show that Swift might have used the show as an inspiration for her art.

It seems there have been a few instances where Taylor drew inspiration from Jess and Rory’s story, something she has even reportedly admitted. Her song ‘Mine‘ on ‘Speak Now‘ is apparently written about the young couple on the show.

Doesn’t seem untrue though. Rory really was the careful daughter of a careless man and she and Jess spent a lot of time sitting by the water.

There are more songs that seem to be very much related to Gilmore characters; such as ‘The Way I Loved You‘ being about Rory’s live triangle; ‘This Is Me Trying‘ being about how Rory becomes burned out after school, and ‘Mirrorball’ being about Paris Geller.

Social media is filled with ‘Gilmore Girls‘ x Taylor Swift edits. Here’s one:

A lot of plotlines in a lot of episodes seem to be connected to some of the songs Swift has written, and that list is truly endless. Most of the songs are from her albums Evermore and Folklore.

While Taylor has never publicly admitted that she has watched, or liked ‘Gilmore Girls‘, fans have assumed that she probably might be a GG fan after all. Especially when during her Reputation Secret Sessions, a fan claimed that Swift admitted to being a GG fan.

Moreover, Taylor has long been a fan of Carole King, who she considers to be the “greatest songwriter of all time”. While talking about her in 2021’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, Swift said, “Carole taught artists like me that telling your own story is worth the work and struggle it takes to earn the opportunity for your story to be heard.

The connection here is that King’s song “Where You Lead, I Will Follow” is the theme song for Gilmore Girls and she even plays a role in the show.

It’s unlikely that Taylor wouldn’t watch a series that has one of her idols as an actor and features her song as the theme.

Taylor Swift And Lorelai Gilmore’s Connection

Fans have always compared Lorelai Gilmore and Taylor Swift, with many even claiming that the two of them look very similar.

While it’s not entirely untrue, Swift does look very Lorelai-like with black hair.

Not just this, the actress who played Lorelai Gilmore, Lauren Graham admitted to have met Taylor Swift at a friend’s birthday party and that Swift told her that she knew about Gilmore Girls.

Well, there are too many signs to not miss out that Taylor might just be a huge ‘Gilmore Girls‘ fan.

When she isn’t creating history or performing at the biggest tour of the year, she’s probably sitting in her bed with a bunch of cinnamon cookies and her cats and binge-watching the show. Like all of us.
