Linda Hamilton is the newest addition to the cast of ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 as the anticipation around the show’s release continues to increase among fans. Hamilton is notably gearing up for a thrilling adventure in Hawkins, but there’s one thing she won’t be doing—watching the final season.
The actress is a huge fan of the 80s-infused ‘Dungeons and Dragons’ inspired Netflix drama as she herself revealed in recent interview with Us Weekly! So being cast as a part of the show was definitely a dream come true for her. But there’s something that’s been bothering the actress despite everything. Here’s what it is.

Linda Hamilton Says She Won’t Be Watching The Final Season Of ‘Stranger Things’
Actress Linda Hamilton was recently announced as the latest member of the cast of season 5 of ‘Stranger Things’. Though the details of her character and its part in the show’s story narrative are still unclear, fans are excited to see the actress appear in their favorite franchise.
But Hamilton herself is having a bittersweet realization with the news of her casting. The actress said that being cast in the show’s concluding season has “ruined” the experience of watching it for her.
“When you buy into something, you don’t see yourself in it. So, I think it ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project] once I’m in something,” Hamilton said. “It would completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there. So, I won’t be watching [Season 5],” she added.
Hamilton is among the few new cast members joining the show for its final run. The actress has kept her role under wraps, with even showrunners Ross and Matt Duffer only providing her with the “shape of the character but not of the story.” The secrecy surrounding the plot is crucial, as Hamilton pointed out, to protect it from spoilers and maintain the suspense for eager fans.
“They have to be very careful with their story,” Hamilton said. “So I still don’t know how it ends. It takes a lot of discipline not to know where it will go, but that’s to protect it from all of the people that want to know.”

‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Has Begun Its Production
Though she asserted that she has decided not to watch the final season, Hamilton said she’s having a great time working on the show since its production began on January 8. The ‘Stranger Things’ Instagram account has been teasing fans with behind-the-scenes glimpses and photos of the cast.
Hamilton also mentioned how her friends are texting her for on-set location details, attempting to piece together parts of the show’s story. Meanwhile, Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin Henderson on the show, recently suggested that more characters should be killed off on the show.
“It might sound messed up, but we should kill more people,” Matarazzo said. “This show would be so much better if the stakes were much higher, like, at any moment, any of these kids can kick it. I feel like we’re all too safe.”
While Season 5 is already in full swing, there’s no confirmed release date on Netflix. With Hollywood strikes affecting many productions, fans might have to wait until 2025 for the grand finale of ‘Stranger Things’. Meanwhile, the show makers as well as the cast are doing a great job at getting the anticipation high.
