James Manos, Jr., was the creator of the series for Showtime. But, Daniel Cerone, Clyde Philips, and Melissa Rosenberg took the reins from him and took the role of executive producers. Later, Chip Johannessen and Scott Buck joined the crew.
But, in October 2022, the show was renewed for a reboot titled ‘Dexter: New Blood’ with Michael Hall reprising his titular role. After a successful run for two months in 2021, the first season concluded leaving the fans on a cliffhanger about whether there will be a Season 2.

The Showrunner Clyde Phillips Is Ready To Drop Everything To Make The Season 2
While talking to Deadline, the showrunner of season 1 of ‘Dexter: New Blood’ Clyde Phillips talked about the possibility of season 2. In the interview, he was positive about bringing season 2, but it all depends on Showtime. He said, “As I mentioned, this show is a huge asset. When people start bingeing this after the finale, I’m confident the numbers will continue to go up. It’s up to Showtime to make the call to me if they want more”.
Phillips continued, “If they ask me if I’d like to make a continuation of this, I would say yes. I have a lot of things going on but I would drop everything for this and say yes in one second”.
He confirmed that it is over for Dexter. In the interview, he said, “I have three words for you: Dexter is dead. I wouldn’t do that to the audience. It would be dishonest. Here, there is no question that this is the finale of Dexter. Dexter is dead”.
The ending of the show gave a glimpse to the audience of the capabilities of Dexter’s son, Harrison. This could be a really good plot if season 2 ever happens. The story is from the point of view of Harrison Morgan. Talking about Harrison, he said, “Harrison is such a complicated character and he has within him the seeds of the dark passenger. He’s capable. Look at that takedown of Dexter in the end, what’s in Harrison is that he has to kill this man”.
