The two former ‘Modern Family‘ stars recently revealed that they are now living together in Los Angeles, and while many fans loved the update, others immediately started speculating about their relationship.
Now, Winter is shutting those rumors down once and for all while opening up about what life is really like with her longtime co-star.
Ariel Winter Explains How She Ended Up Living With Nolan Gould Outside ‘Modern Family’

Six years after ‘Modern Family‘ wrapped up its hugely successful run, the cast still remains close behind the scenes. Earlier this week, Ariel Winter confirmed to People that she and Nolan Gould are currently renting a house together in Los Angeles. Winter, who played Alex Dunphy, and Gould, who portrayed her younger brother Luke Dunphy, apparently made the decision after both wanted to spend more time back in LA.

When Winter visited DECIDER’s studio in Midtown Manhattan to promote “Sofia the First: Royal Magic”, she explained exactly how the arrangement came together. “We just kind of had this moment where we were like, ‘Do we want to live together for a bit while we figure our life out?’ And he was like, ‘That would actually be the best thing ever. Why have we never done this?’” Winter told the outlet. “That’s basically how it came to be.”
The actress also admitted that the living arrangement has worked surprisingly well for both of them. “We’re honestly kind of the best roommates,” she added. “It works out pretty well. We just watch TV together, hang out, he does his thing, and I do mine. It’s great.”
Of course, no roommate situation comes without at least one small disagreement. Winter joked that Gould prefers the house much warmer than she does. “He does enjoy the house to be a little bit warmer than I do,” Winter joked. “I would prefer it to be a little bit colder. I’m not really sure how he lives like that. But other than that, we’re thriving.”
Winter Responds To The Rumors About Their Relationship

After news about their living arrangement started spreading online, social media users quickly began sharing mixed reactions. Many longtime ‘Modern Family‘ fans loved seeing the former on-screen siblings still so close after all these years. However, some comments crossed the line and fueled speculation that there could be something romantic happening between the pair.

Winter made it very clear that those rumors could not be further from the truth. “I will put it out there. We are actual brother and sister living in that house. Okay?” Winter clarified. “Because we’ve seen some comments, and we’ve been cackling at some of these comments. They’re unwell. Some of your comments are unwell. I am not sure what y’all are thinking, but some of you are unwell.”
She continued by explaining how deeply connected they are after growing up together on the hit sitcom. “Nolan and I have grown up together. That is my family. That is my brother. We are best friends. That is family to me. To me, that is blood.”
Winter also revealed that although she has only watched “three or four episodes” of Modern Family, she and Gould have discussed possibly rewatching the sitcom together someday. The actress shared that they have “also talked about” inviting their television family over to their new place as well.
