‘Demon Slayer’ has one of the best collections of villains in the entire anime world. Each of these villains is unique, has their personality and traits, and is very powerful. The major villains in the series are Kizuki and Muzan. The upper moons, in particular, are quite powerful. Most of these villains are scared of their creator, Kibutsuji Muzan, and for very good reasons.
However, there is one demon of the upper moon who is not at all afraid of the demon king. Fans wish to find out why exactly Douma isn’t scared of Muzan.
Who Is Douma?
Douma is currently the upper moon 2 and the third strongest demon in existence. He was made a demon later than Akaza but he quickly rose through the ranks and became stronger than him. Appearance-wise, Douma is quite handsome. Douma has a very toned body and platinum-blonde hair. However, it is his eyes that are the most attractive. His eyes are a mixture of rainbow hues that all mix and melt into each other and are extremely beautiful.
However, it is just his appearance that is beautiful. Personality-wise, Douma is a very twisted individual. On the outside Douma seems very polite and talkative unlike the other moons, but in reality, he has psychotic tendencies. Even as a human, he didn’t possess emotions. Douma was a twisted individual even before he was turned into a demon and his tendencies became worse after he became one.
He created a cult that was dedicated to worshipping him. Over there he listened to the problems of all his followers and gave them advice. But he also ate the said followers and considered it to be good as they could live inside him. Shinobu Kocho also mentioned that he is extremely twisted.
Why Is He Not Afraid Of Muzan?
Kibutsuji Muzan is the demon king. He was the first of his kind and is currently the strongest demon to ever exist. He created the twelve kizuki and is their head. Most of the demons are very afraid of Muzan and try not to draw attention to themselves.
Douma however is not one of those demons. He doesn’t outright disrespect Muzan, but it is clear through his actions that he isn’t scared of him. Muzan also doesn’t like Douma and only tolerates him. Kokushibo, the upper moon 1 also doesn’t particularly like him.
The reason behind Douma not fearing Muzan could be his powers. Douma is very well aware of the fact that Muzan could kill him very easily. He is also aware that Muzan doesn’t like him. Muzan is only keeping him alive for his powers and because of his intellect. Douma seems to know all this. He knows that unless he commits a grave crime, Muzan wouldn’t kill him as he requires Douma. Therefore that could be the reason behind Douma not fearing the strongest demon in existence.
