Anya Taylor Joy has a special memory attached to the iconic bench from Tom Hanks’ hiyt film ‘Forrest Gump‘. In a video clip posted by Letterboxd, the ‘Queen’s Gambit‘ actress is in conversation with Chris Hemsworth for the promotion of her film ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’.
During the interview, the ‘Thor’ actor questions Anya if anything “special” happened on the iconic bench from the movie, to which Anya replies, “Yes, my husband accidentally proposed to me on the Forrest Gump bench in Savannah, which was a complete accident.“
The ‘Dune’ actress continues, “And he’s a boy from Alabama and I’m blonde so…it just happened. I hear that music and I cry like a baby.”

Anya Taylor-Joy, the British-American actress, privately married the love of her life Malcolm McRae in New Orleans in April 2022. The couple later celebrated their second wedding ceremony in Venice, in October 2023.
Both of them often post about each other on social media, showcasing how much they love each other. Though their love is quite there in the public eye, it was not known that Malcolm proposed to her on the same bench where Tom Hanks sat for the filming of ‘Forrest Gump’.
