Charlize Theron has admitted that she may stay single for the rest of her life because she no longer believes marriage fits the life she wants.
At 50, Theron says she has grown comfortable with the independence, freedom, and stability she has created in her personal life. Instead of chasing traditional relationship expectations, the actress revealed what she wants from life.
Charlize Theron Admits She’s Too Comfortable Living Alone Now
During a recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, Theron admitted she does not think she could ever share a home with a partner again. “I really mean this; people think I joke, I don’t think I could ever live with somebody again,” she confessed.

The actress explained that she has become used to having her own space as a single mother. Theron even joked that she would rather have a partner live nearby instead of under the same roof. “I would love for you to be close, like buy the house down the street. But I don’t know if I can,” she said.
Theron also spoke about how her daughters, whom she adopted in 2012 and 2015, have reacted to her dating life. “My kids are at an age now where they actually enjoy that I’m dating because they want to be involved,” she shared. “It’s really funny how I was scared they’d be threatened by it, and now they’re like, ‘Mom, is he texting you? Like, go on the date, mom.’”
Even though she enjoys dating, the actress said her family still comes first. “Your kids come first, they always come first,” Theron explained. She admitted that her perspective could change once she becomes an empty nester, but for now, she values the balance and independence she has created in her life.

Theron went viral back in 2025 after appearing on the Call Her Daddy podcast with Alex Cooper, where she spoke openly about her dating life and why she has never married. During the conversation, the actress made a blunt confession that immediately grabbed attention online.

“I did just recently fk a 26-year-old,” Theron said. “And it was really f*ing amazing.” While the comment shocked many fans, the actress explained that experiences like this made her realize how much she enjoys the freedom she has in her current life.
“I’m sounding very cocky here, but I think it’s because I found this freedom in my 40s, where I’m like, ‘Oh my God,’ so I just want to say this in perspective,” she explained. Theron admitted that after finding that level of independence, she no longer feels drawn toward marriage or traditional relationship expectations.
The actress has dated several high-profile celebrities in the past. However, Theron now says she feels happiest building a life completely on her own terms without needing to fit into a conventional relationship structure.
