Murphy, in his previous interviews has stated that he along with his wife have always wanted to keep their children’s lives private and normal. In a Rolling Stone interview, he stated, “They’re really good boys. We have a laugh. We don’t do ‘Dad’s Movie Night’, but they like some of my films. They say all my films are really intense.”

Cillian has never shied away from showcasing his love for his wife Yvonne McGuinness. After succeeding at any point in his career, Murphy makes sure to credit his wife. The couple met for the first time in 1996 when Murphy and his brother were playing in a band. He revealed that Yvonne just tagged along on their tour and it was all exciting.
The two have been together for 30 years And have two sons together. Yvonne is a visual artist with a master’s degree from the Royal College of Art.
In an interview with The Guardian, Murphy talked about trying to achieve a work-life balance. He said, “I have an amazing wife, and I couldn’t do this without her and her understanding. But it is a struggle. I think it is for any dad whose work takes him away, which it generally does, and which consumes him, which my work does.”
