Taylor Schilling, the ‘Orange is the New Black’ actress, has worked in a central role as Piper in the Netflix series with a prominent LGBTQI trope. Even as the matters of sexuality are being embraced more rapidly across the world, they still carry a certain stigma. It is these unapologetic pieces of entertainment that help people be more accepting of the LGBTQI community. And what better, if the star of the show herself is a member of the community?
Schilling, who already had speculations surrounding her sexuality ongoing back in 2017, had come out as a person with fluid sexuality. The speculation gained momentum when there were talks about her dating ‘Portlandia‘ star and musician Carrie Brownstein. So, what’s the truth?

Taylor Schilling’s Sexuality
More recently in 2020, Taylor Shilling revealed in an Instagram post that she was dating Emily Ritz, a musical and visual artist.
She was, however, always unapologetic about her sexuality. She first came out of the closet to the world openly during an interview with The Standard in May 2017, without spilling out too many details.
“I’ve had very serious relationships with lots of people, and I’m a very expansive human,” she told them when asked about her dating life and sexuality.
The actress put up an interesting take on labels and boxes. No part of her can be put under a label, she said. “I really don’t fit into a box – that’s too reductive,” she was further quoted as saying by The Standard.
With her career flourishing with ‘Orange is the New Black’, Schilling had a busy schedule throughout the shooting of the series. She never however let that take a toll on her romantic life. Reports suggest that she has gone on record about having “wonderful relationships” and “a lot of love” irrespective of “where it comes from“.

The Actress Is Proud of Her Identity And ‘Orange Is The New Black’
‘Orange is the New Black’ is one of the most unapologetic shows made based on the LGBTQI theme. Taylor Schilling has been as proud of being a part of the series as she is being a part of the community.
In an interview, she opined that the things happening to her character on the show have changed how people look at the issue of homosexuality. Four years into the show, Schilling said she likes to believe that the “world has become a little more Orange”, convinced that through her work, she is bringing in acceptance for the community.
Besides, the show also provides its viewers with the steaming hot romantic chemistry between Schilling’s character and Stella Carlin, played by Ruby Rose. Schilling, by openly and unapologetically coming out as a person with a fluid sexuality, has added another, and rather bright feather to the show’s cap.
