Today is a rather sad day for all movie lovers. Actor Ray Stevenson passed away just four days prior to his 59th birthday. Stevenson is known for his roles in the ‘Thor‘ and ‘Divergent‘ series, and many more films and series. 

You might have recently seen Ray Stevenson on screen when he played the antagonist in SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR‘. Today, with a heavy heart we take a look at Stevenson’s death, career and more.

How Did Ray Stevenson Die?

The news of Ray Stevenson’s death came on 21 May. Stevenson’s US-based publicist firm, Viewpoint shared the news of his death with the world. However, they have not revealed any cause of death so far.

We do know that Ray Stevenson was filming his upcoming movie ‘Cassino in Ischia’ in Italy when he fell ill. He was hospitalized for his health issues but it has not been revealed what led to his early demise. It is indeed a very sad day for the whole of Hollywood with the loss of one very prominent actor.

Ray Stevenson’s Career And Legacy

Stevenson made his film debut in 1998 with ‘The Theory of Flight‘ opposite Helena Bonham Carter. He then acted in several movies and series. Stevenson’s first prominent role was as the Punisher in ‘Punisher: War Zone’. He played the roles of Marcus Eaton in the Divergent series, Volstagg in the Thor films and many more. Other films under his belt also include ‘King Arthur’, ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’, ‘Big Game’, ‘The Transporter: Refueled’, ‘Cold Skin‘ to name a few. 

Stevenson also acted in several television series like ‘Band of Gold’, ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’, ‘Star Wars Rebels’, ‘Dexter’, and ‘Rome’ to name a few. He also made his debut in Indian cinema with Rajmouli’s Academy Award-winning movie ‘RRR‘. 

Stevenson had two upcoming movies and one series he was filming for at the time of his death. His role as Baylan Skoll in the upcoming series ‘Ahsoka‘ was recently announced. Stevenson also has two upcoming movies that are going to be released soon – ‘1242: Gateway to the West’ and ‘Cassino in Ischia‘.
