The Weeknd Announces In A Heartbreaking Post That His Next Feature “Another One Of Me” Will Be The Last

It is the end of the era! The Weeknd is one of the great serial collaborators of this generation. The singer has worked with numerous billboard singers ranging from Ariana Grande and Travis Scott to Del Rey and SZA. Along with many other collaborators, The Canadian singer also worked with Daft Punk. After collaborating on two songs in 2016 for the Starboy album, the band announced their breakup in 2021.

In 2017, The Weeknd performed the songs with the French duo at the Grammy Awards. The singer spoke about this work with Daft Punk, “Those guys are one of the reasons I make music”. On Tuesday Abel Tesfaye announced while performing at the Warsaw, Poland after his ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour that he’s done recording features with other musicians. The singer told the crowd, “This next song I’m about to perform is an unreleased record. I haven’t dropped it yet. It’s called Another One of Me, but I just want to say this is going to be the last feature I ever do, ever, in my career, so I’m going to perform it for you guys tonight”.

Earlier this year, the Canadian singer said that he would be reborn as an artist under his birth name, shedding off his nom de guerre. The Weekend would only consider new features if Daft Punk ever reunite. He collaborated with the French duo for his 2016 hit Starboy which reached No.1 in the United States.

A representative for Abel Tesfaye confirms to Entertainment Weekly via email that the Grammy-winning Canadian superstar “will not be doing any more features for his music career (unless daft punk regroup!)” and that the other artist and release date for ‘Another One of Me’ is yet to be revealed.

The ‘Blinding Lights’ singer has also been hinting at his own retirement for quite some time now. In his latest cover story with W Magazine, the singer revealed that the album he is currently working on is the follow-up to the 2022’s Dawn FM.

The artist also spoke by shedding his stage name saying “this is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd”. This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say. It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn”.

Even though The Weeknd is done with features, Tesfaye recently worked with Madonna and Playboi Carti on his latest controversial TV series Idol soundtrack tune Popular. The soundtrack gave Madonna her first Billboard Hot 100 hit in eight years, making her and Cher the only female artist in U.S music history to achieve hits on the chart in five consecutive decades.
