Jackman played the Wolverine in several ‘X-Men‘ and ‘Wolverine‘ films. He announced that he will be retiring from the role after ‘Logan‘ in 2017. This left a lot of fans disappointed at that time.

However, it seems Jackman has changed his mind. On Tuesday, ‘Deadpool‘ star Ryan Reynolds announced on Twitter that Jackman will appear in ‘Deadpool 3.’ In the video, Ryan talks about preparing for the film and in the end asks Hugh if he wants to play Wolverine again. To which Jackman replies, “Sure, Ryan.”

Deadpool 3‘ will release on September 6, 2024, and will mark a full circle for both Hugh and Ryan. Reynolds first played Deadpool in the 2009 film ‘X-Men Origins: Wolverine’. It featured a poorly received finale in which Reynolds’ anti-hero was depicted with his mouth sewn shut.

The first film in the franchise became one of the most successful R-rated films, earning a total of $782.6 million globally. It boosted Ryan’s career and made him a big star.

Jackman first played the role of Wolverine in 2000’s ‘X-Men’. It proved to be his breakthrough role and catapulted him into fame and success.

He was attached to the franchise for 17 years with nine films, including several cameos. The ‘Prisoners‘ star officially retired from the role to much fanfare in 2017 with ‘Logan’. In the film, the adamantium-clawed mutant was killed.

Back in 2017, Jackman talked about how comedian Jerry Seinfeld convinced him to retire. “What happened was I had a dinner with Jerry Seinfeld, who’s a friend of mine. I was asking him about the end of the series. I said, ‘How did you decide?’ And, long story, he kind of said, ‘Look, I’ve always believed, creatively, you should never spend everything… because it’s almost Herculean to start up again.”

He continued: “You should always have something in the tank. Leave the party before it gets too late kind of theory. And then somehow it spurs you into the next thing.'” It seems that Hugh has changed his mind now for some reason and we couldn’t be more excited.”
