‘I Wish You Would’: Is The New Netflix Special Of Trevor Noah Funny Enough?

If jokes acquired a human form, it would be like Trevor Noah!

Trevor Noah is funny. If you deny it, let’s go to the parking lot and meet. (PS: He uses this line in the comedy special!) His new Netflix comedy special ‘I Wish You Would’ is witty, hilarious, and thought-provoking. I have never seen a person who signed off from watching Noah’s special without having that face that shows the person is actually taking into consideration his witty comedy.

Customarily, people who enjoy stand-up comedy fail to dig into the wittiness that comes cloaked as comedy. Comedy is pure brilliance. Comedians are clever people. Many laugh, but only some think. Noah’s special made me think, laugh and learn. Yes! I learnt quite a lot about countries like Scotland, Germany and South Africa and also learnt a German word, which I will use incessantly from now on with my friends.

    Is Trevor Noah Funny?

    Trevor Noah

If jokes acquired a human form, it would be like Trevor Noah. He is funny alright! The thing that excites me the most about Noah’s specials is his storytelling techniques. He enacts like the monster from ‘Quite Place’, does different accents from places he visited, and most importantly he entertains people. The one thing that surprised me the most, even though, he is known for his storification of comedy was that Noah connected the dots to the end. You get to learn a German word at the beginning called ‘schadenfreude’ and he brilliantly connects his jokes till the end to come back and meet this word. If you want to know the meaning of the word, go to Netflix and click on his ‘I Wish You Would’ comedy special. (Thank me later!)

The ‘Daily Show’ host made a laugh out of the most dreadful period in the history of this century. His unique take on the pandemic that it was all a collective manifestation of people of different ages, broke the stadium with laughter. Not to mention his observation on ‘horror movies’, is something we all might have thought of, but we never would have imagined someone else to have noticed that too. Well, here is our person who relates to us and gleams the comedy from the most common places people fail to observe.

What Can You Expect From The ‘I Wish You Would’ Comedy Special?

    Trevor Noah

For those fans of Noah, rest assured, Trump’s mention is there! There is no Noah special, without Donald Trump, let’s face it! Expect the unexpected is cliché people, expect the expected. Let’s check the boxes now – Pandemic, Will Smith Oscar slap incident, Trump, South Africa, Accents, India. Well, it’s not surprising for anyone to hear the mention of India in Noah’s special. He is more Indian than anyone can be (Of course, that’s an exaggeration, or maybe not).

I find myself thinking about why do I like his specials a lot and the only thing that strikes me the most is his love for people, languages, and countries. He makes anyone feel at home or even better takes one back to their home if they feel lost in their host country. With a pint of emotions, a handful of wit, and gallons of laughter, Noah makes the perfect comedy curry in the Netflix comedy special world.
