Comedian Kam Patterson drew attention during a Weekend Update segment on Saturday Night Live, where he referenced the recent breakup between Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson. The clip gained traction on social media after airing, just about a week after news of the split became public.
The segment, hosted by Colin Jost and Michael Che, featured Patterson delivering a comedic take on the situation while playfully positioning himself as a potential partner.
“Bro, Megan Thee Stallion is single. I’m so upset,” Patterson said, before continuing the bit with exaggerated concern.
“This is a smile of desperation. I’m sad. I’m worried about Meg, man. You know she had to quit off Broadway productions of Moulin Rouge? When I heard that news, I couldn’t believe she was in town,” he added.
Patterson then outlined what he described as a “real man,” leaning into humor with a list of traits. “Well, let’s see. First off, he’s probably, I don’t know, 5’8 to 5’10. Second, he’s probably a black man. Because everybody knows black men don’t cheat,” he said.
After Che pointed out that Thompson is Black, Patterson quipped that he was only “half black” and joked it was his “white half that cheated.” He went on to suggest that an ideal partner might work in entertainment, tying the punchline back to his own role on the show.

The exchange wrapped up with Patterson directly addressing Stallion, delivering a self-deprecating pitch in which he admitted he might not be her ideal match while still playfully suggesting she give him a chance. The moment quickly gained traction, with the clip widely shared across social media later that same day.
Megan Thee Stallion Confirms Breakup, Outlines Reasons In Public Statement

Megan Thee Stallion confirmed her split from Klay Thompson in a public statement shared on her social media, outlining the reasons behind the decision and emphasizing personal values.
“I’ve made the decision to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward…I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity,” she said.
The couple had been publicly linked since July 2025, when they made their relationship official online. The breakup became public in late April 2026, shortly before Patterson’s SNL appearance referenced the development.
