The rumors of ‘Euphoria‘ star Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell started to wander around on social media. Fans took it to be true as their movie, ‘Anyone But You’ was already on the way.
However, now in an interview, Glen Powell revealed both Sweeney and he played it out to plug in the audience and it really went well. The movie managed to earn $219 million worldwide.
Glen Powell Calls Sydney Sweeney A Marketing Genius
According to Glen Powell, it was Sweeney’s idea to air the rumor of them dating. Powell said in an interview with the New York Times. He said, “The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry. Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry… that’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart.”
Sweeney was also the executive producer for ‘Anyone But You’ and the movie was produced under her Fifty Films Banner. Thus she was directly involved in the marketing of this film and things went exactly how she wanted.
She said during the interview, “I was on every call. I was in text group chats. I was probably keeping everybody over at Sony marketing and distribution awake at night because I couldn’t stop with ideas.”
The ‘Immaculate’ actress continued, “I wanted to make sure that we were actively having a conversation with the audience as we were promoting this film, because at the end of the day, they’re the ones who created the entire narrative.”

Where To Watch ‘Anyone But You’ Online?
‘Anyone But You’ was released in December 2023. The movie features Sydney Sweeney who is having her moment in pop culture due to her looks alongside Glen Powell. They play Bea and Ben respectively. The movie takes inspiration from Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing”.
The two went on a cute first date which ended up badly. However, these two meet once again in Australia at a wedding. Ben confesses his love for Bea in one of the most romantic fashions fans would see in movies that they should watch themselves.
The movie has an 87% audience score on Tomatometer. It is now available on the streaming platform Netflix and fans can easily watch it.
